The current leader of ATEEZ, Hongjoong took over boss position after his father's death in a horrible accident.

​

His reasons for following in Ji-hun's footsteps are merely tradition-honouring - because it’s the “family business”. In actuality, Hongjoong  always wanted to be an artist and had a real talent for it.

​

Growing up a part of the gang-life however, quickly made him reconsider his life options, and with his grandfather, and later Ki-young's, priming of him for leadership, Hongjoong abandoned all thought of pursuing his passion.

Within the gang, he is known for his ruthlessness and impeccable coordination, so much that even the older members of the ATEEZ – who hate the idea of a “young boy” leading them – admire and acknowledge him.

His closest advisors are his friends, as he "doesn’t trust the old crows” in ATEEZ. In fact, a large portion of his ideals were moulded by his father, which caused him to instigate major reform in the gang's business and relations. This put him on the bad side of the commission* - an elected group of men, tasked with the decision-making of the gang.

Hongjoong is generally easy-going and laid back, with a kind demeanour...so long as he isn't angered...
