A ruthless killer, San is an expert in hand-hand combat, harbouring a plethora of knowledge and skill in the martial arts. Much like Yunho, he was also recruited to the gang by Hongjoong’s father.

​

He was raised by his grandfather, Hyun-ki, who taught him everything he knew. For much of his life, San was unaware of the details of his parents' lives; he only knew that they had died in an accident. When he was 10 years old, he moved with his grandfather from Falls Bay. Without reason, without warning, even. For the next seven years he lived in a small country town, training with his grandfather, going to school.

When Hyun-ki grew sick and frail in his older years, he told San about Ji-hun, about the work he used to do for him (and his father before him). He urged San to go to Ji-hun after his death, "He'll look after you."

 

"I don't need anyone to look after me."

 

"Not now. But soon you'll need someone by your side. Trust me, you will."

Reluctantly, he obeyed, and, Hongjoong’s father took him in immediately – since he didn’t need training, he was dispatched into missions straight away. San quickly got along with all the other boys, as, despite the fact that he was a coldblooded killer (on the job), he was kind and friendly. He even keeps a soft plushie, Shiber, by his bed, which was given to him by his grandfather.
