Sang-chul started off young in the business, and was involved through his father. His family had been one of the founders of the gang, and had stood by Kim Minhyuk since ATEEZ's early days.

Since then it had been tradition and loyalty that bound the Baeks to ATEEZ. Sang-chul grew up around Ji-hun, and naturally, they were extremely close. Along with Ki-young, the three of them had an inseparable bond.

Sang-chul's role in the gang, primarily involved acquiring weapons and resources.

 

After getting caught up in an issue with Ki-young in 2015, Sang-chul was forced to go into hiding. During that time, his only daughter, Mi-soon was shot by the police, leaving her to bleed to death on the streets.

​

The shock of losing his precious daughter caused a part of his mind to crack. He was never the same after her passing. When Ji-hun attempted to transfer him to a safer area, Sang-chul had disappeared and wasn't seen since.
